Post subject: Upload function and phpscripts in safe mode !

I have installed ovidentia portal system on a server that runs php scripts in safe mode and get the following message when trying to upload files in the file manager:

 Warning: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in  /home/httpd/vhosts/artportal1.com/httpdocs/ovidentia/fileman.php on line 795

Files are not entirely uploaded; does it mean that the file manager and especially uploading isn't not possible in ovidentia on servers running php scripts in safe mode. Is there any workaround for this problem ?

Thanks for feedback

André

As you can not reset the time limit in save mode you will be dependend on the time limit allocated by your installation.

We think the safe mode installation of PHP can create a lot of problems with th Ovidentia use ..

You can see the Safe mode restriction here

Thanks for your message !

For the moment I have found a workaround to the upload problem with an open source script (qtofm.php4) running from a section (File uploader - help image) that opens a new window and permits file uploading and even creating new directories (editing and file deleting options are disabled) without suffering from the safe mode restrictions. You can test it at www.artportal1.com. Perhaps it could be interesting to prepare an alternative solution for your filemanagment script, if the trend of ISP goes to restricting phpscript execution in safe mode. Right now; I didn't recognize any other problems in ovidentia features caused by this restriction: may be, they will come soon. Keep you informed about it.

Thanks again for your assistance

Thanks for your messages !

For the mment I have found a workaround to the upload problem with an open source php script running from a section (file uploader, image help). You can test it at www.artportal1.com. This script is not affected by the default server settings. But may be there are other problems waiting for me. I will try to keep you informed about them.

Thanks again for your support

'safe_mode' has some restrictions. See PHP documentation.

To solve upload problem, you can edit fileman.php and remove the line:
set_time_limit(0);

Or change it by:
if( !get_cfg_var('safe_mode'))
set_time_limit(0);

Also make sure, you have changed max size files by user/file/group in config.php and increased :

upload_max_filesize

in php.ini

Hope this can help you
